10 Celebrities You Couldn't Take Seriously In Video Games

5. Tobey Maguire - Spider-Man

And now we have the curious case of Tobey Maguire in the PS2 Spider-Man games, because while Maguire gave a terrific performance as Peter Parker in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movie trilogy, he was evidently decidedly less invested in working on the games.

"Somnambulant" is definitely the word to describe Maguire's voice work here, which sounds like the guy just woke up from a 12-hour sleep and wished he was literally anywhere else.

If nothing else it underlines the difference between dramatic screen acting and that for a video game - they require a different skill set, and even the greatest movie actors aren't necessarily going to excel in voiceover roles.

Still, given the success that Spider-Man brought Maguire and the clear commitment he showed across the films, it's a shame that he mailed in his performance from space for the games.

Taking him seriously in a role he'd already made his own should've been a no-brainer.
