10 Classic Games Missing From The Sega Mega Drive Mini

4. Out Run

Non-linear gameplay, in a Mega Drive game? What is this trickery?

Well known for its innovative driving mechanics, branching pathways and pumping rad '80s soundtrack, Out Run is a criminal omission from the list of Mega Drive Mini games.

Originally released for the arcade and ported across to a number of systems, you control a Ferrari Testarossa Spider from a third-person perspective. The game was one of the first to simulate the feel of being close to the driver (along with his blonde friend) and it made the game tricky to master, but extremely satisfying to do so.

Unlike other racing games, Out Run only has one track. It's up to you to get to the finish line in an extremely strict time limit; if not, it's back to the start. The beauty of Out Run is that the race has branching pathways, so you can decide to split off into the mountains, or stop by a desert area and crash into some other bad drivers.

This one is another strange omission from the list, particularly as it's one of Sega's most successful games ever and it's appeared in other games such as the Yakuza series recently.
