10 Classic Games Missing From The Sega Mega Drive Mini

3. Alien 3

Rocket Knight Adventure
Acclaim Entertainment

Long before Alien: Isolation had us all filling our knickers due to its terrifying-ness, and long before even Alien: Colonial Marines had us filling our knickers due to its severe terribleness, there was stellar movie tie-in Alien 3 on the Mega Drive.

In Alien 3 you play as Ripley in a side-scrolling shoot-em-up. It's set in Fiorina 161, the prison colony from the film, and you get to shoot both Aliens and Facehuggers right in the face with a great selection of weapons including pulse rifles, grenades and a flamethrower. There's also a motion tracker to let you know when and where those pesky aliens are gonna come from.

Alien 3 was creepy. It delivered on the horror of the film (the best it could given the time) with an oppressive soundtrack, unsettling Alien movement and a sense of dread throughout. If you're a fan of the Alien movies, this one was a must-play back in the day.

It's a shame it's been left out of the Mega Drive Mini, but again, this one probably comes down to licensing issues.
