10 Classic Games Missing From The Sega Mega Drive Mini

2. Desert Strike

Who knew flying a helicopter could be so flippin' rad? Desert Strike proved this once and for all, delivering one of the most fondly-remembered games on the Mega Drive.

Despite this, it's curiously missing from the line-up of games which have been announced for the Mega Drive Mini. This means that people buying this beautiful little mini console are not going to get the joy of flying an Apache helicopter, blowing stuff up and rescuing hostages.

Desert Strike is quite an innovative game, with an isometric-ish top-down-ish view. The player pilots the said helicopter through a wide-variety of desert-themed levels; the twist is this is more than just your standard shoot-em-up.

Strike is actually quite a tactical game; you need to consider before each mission what weapons you're taking and you must also be wary of your fuel gauge, which must be replenished before it expires. This means you could be in the middle of a firefight, run out of missiles or fuel, and have to hightail it back to base to refuel and resupply before you go down in a blaze of flames.

While you're at it Sega, get Jungle and Urban Strike on there too.
