10 Classic Nintendo Games That NEED Switch Remakes
4. Star Fox 64
Star Fox is a great series that has fallen by the wayside and, were it not for Nintendo’s persistence and the heavy nostalgia factor in it’s favour, might have faded into obscurity by now. Star Fox Zero was average at best, and Star Fox Guard weirdly tried to change it to a tower defence game. It’s a series in desperate need of a hard reset.
Star Fox 64 definitely provides that. Retelling the story of the first Star Fox with tighter controls and smoother gameplay, a remake done well could be the building block for future smash hits as well.
The multiplayer was brilliant too, bordering on ahead of its time at the 1997 release. Proving that most trends are cyclical, one of the most popular components was a Battle Royale mode that would surely be a massive hit today.
There’s definitely some demand there; Star Fox 2 was scrapped in the 90s but came as an unlockable on the Super NES Classic in 2017, giving fans the game that slipped through their fingers two decades ago. Hopefully the Switch can bring lovable Fox McCloud to a huge audience once more.
