10 Clone Video Games That Are Better Than The Original
1. Call Of Duty (Medal Of Honor)
Given its massive fanbase and global acclaim, it’s hard to think that more than two decades ago, Call of Duty was considered a clone of Medal of Honor.
Yes, one of the greatest champions of the first-person shooter industry started off as a lookalike of a far less popular franchise. The first Call of Duty came out in 2003, about four years after Medal of Honor, and shared a lot of similarities with it. Both games were set during World War II, followed the battles of Allied soldiers, and they were even made by the same team of developers.
It wasn’t until its fourth installment that Call of Duty began to develop its own identity. The games started taking place in different time periods, included more cinematic cutscenes, had greater rosters of weapons, and, last but not least, expanded on their multiplayer features, leading to a huge rise in Call of Duty's popularity.
The FPS titan we all know and love today had rather humble beginnings, but thanks to its constant innovation, it became something far, far better.
There’s no stolen valor here. Just a game that managed to outgrow its original inspiration.
