10 Clone Video Games That Are Better Than The Original

Battle Royale is a game genre so popular that nowadays the name would make people think of Fortnite rather than its original literary name.

Speaking of Fortnite, it's safe to say that the battle royale format wouldn't have been such a massive success if it weren't for this particular title, which is pretty funny considering that the idea wasn't even Fortnite's to begin with.

Back in 2017, the battle royale genre was only beginning to spread its wings, with PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds drawing in thousands of players every day thanks to its unique premise and high level of replayability. At this time, Fortnite was actually a completely different game, where the player would build forts with their friends and defend them against hordes of AI-controlled enemies.

In the wake of Battlegrounds' success, Epic decided to develop Fortnite's very own battle royale game mode, thinking it would suit their game perfectly. This decision would change the course of the gaming industry forever.

Though PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is still around, these days it can't even compare to the record-breaking popularity of its clone.

Honestly, at this point, it's not even fair to call Fortnite a clone. It's more like a skinwalker stealing your whole identity.
