10 Clone Video Games That Are Better Than The Original

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a Kickstarter-funded Castlevania clone that's meant to be a spiritual successor to the original series, in particular, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

This said, some could argue Bloodstained's "spiritual success" is done a little too well, as it improves on pretty much every aspect of the games it's based on.

Everything from gameplay to skills and even the art style completely trumps the accomplishments of the old Castlevania games. One of the major reasons for this is that Bloodstained was made by Castlevania's original producer, Koji Igarashi, who managed to keep his new project faithful to its source material while simultaneously finding ways in which to build upon its already established themes.

The entire game is gorgeous, controls really well, and comes with its own original storyline that brings a nice refreshing twist to the old Castlevania lore.

If you're a huge fan of Castlevania and Metroidvania games in general, Bloodstained is a must-pick. The only problem is that once you play one of the games in the series, you may never look at old Castlevanias the same way.
