10 Controversial Video Games Your Parents Never Wanted You To Play
5. God Of War
God of War is one of those games that could easily sneak up on any unsuspecting parent. Unless a guardian is diligent and pays attention to the rating (which they should), nothing on a surface level screams 'inappropriate' - instead coming across with the aesthetic of a Saturday morning cartoon.
The entire series is filled to the brim with unrestrained testosterone. Kratos himself is absolutely single-minded in his quest for revenge and will cut through anyone who gets in his way, innocents included. Cruelty and violence punctuates every moment, and it is all represented on screen in a viscerally satisfying way. The games also go out of their way to show off the female form as much as possible, and thats including some of the mythological creatures such as the Gorgons and Sirens.
God of War does not attempt to censor or shy away from its subject matter. It gives the player free reign to chop and slice their way through the greatest hits of Greek mythology, a fact that surely many youngsters have used to convince unknowing parents to purchase it for them.
