Hey, kids, you like quantum physics, right? Well, you're gonna love this, then, because the final moments of BioShock Infinite are ready to completely melt your face off. And that's exactly what it does as Elizabeth takes you on a brain-bending trip through the multiverse of BioShock, all connected through lighthouses and a singular idea; there's always a man, a city and a lighthouse. It's a tale as old as time. It's unclear how long Levine planned to shut down Irrational Games and leave BioShock behind, but one look at the ending of Infinite seems to make it clear that he knew in advance. There seems to be an attempt to conclude BioShock, and yet leave a sort of template for 2K to play with in the years to come. And we all know they will when the time is right. The whole conclusion of Infinite is insane, using the quantum physics textbook to ferry you off into a land of choices made and choices ignored. That left turn you didn't take? Well, in another universe you did and became the world's richest man. It's riveting stuff, and Levine plays with it perfectly here. And to make it all even more insane, you'll never quite recover from seeing alternate universe versions of Booker and Elizabeth doing the same thing across the water. Well played, Levine.
