3. Titenic (Nintendo Entertainment System)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaKM24O7QjM No, that's not a typo, at least on our part. From the makers of Kart Fighter and Somari came Titenic, which, as you have probably figured out, is was based on Titanic, the 1997 film that was, up to that point, the highest grossing movie of all time. It opened New Year's Weekend, spent three full months in the number one spot, and didn't leave the top 10 until the first weekend of the Summer. There was no official video game, making room for Titenic to...conquer the Asian market. Or something. Being that the NES had died several years earlier, Titenic shows the staying power of the console in foreign markets with weaker economies, where it was much more reasonably priced than the following two generations' systems. Remember, when Nintendo tried to enter the Chinese market in 2003, it was with the iQue Player, which played modified Nintendo 64 Games well into the Gamecube era. Anyway, Titenic is a beat-em-up where you can play as either of the movie's two leads. So if you've ever wanted kick ass with Kate Winslet, Titenic is your chance. However, unlike other blatantly infringing games we've mentioned, Titenic is a completely original game without any elements lifted from existing licensed games; this isn't a reskinned version of Double Dragon or anything like that. Titenic was eventually retooled with Harry Potter characters as Harry's Legend, but it's not clear if this was done by the original team or if it was hacked by another company.
