7. Is Destiny 2 Just A Glorified Expansion Pack?
Though it played spectacularly well, Destiny 2's beta proved one thing: This is more Destiny - but not necessarily in the best way.
Yes, there are now set-piece moments, lots more dialogue, an established villain and narrative drive to see it through, but the overall sensation when hopping through the menus and character setups is that this is exactly the same as the 2014 edition.
The same 'move the mouse cursor' inventory management, the same juggling of crafting components, nigh-on the same sensation to gameplay save for an addition class-specific move - sadly, just an overwhelming sensation of what should be a numbered sequel, feeling like it could be DLC.
After all, the Taken King and Rise of Iron expansions already showed us what the base 'Destiny with cutscenes' idea looks like, and whilst that was a marked step up from the threadbare launch edition, you have to wonder if it's enough for the full release.
