10 Cruel Tricks Video Games Played On FPS Players

1. One Player Must Die To Save The Others - Left 4 Dead

In Left 4 Dead's "The Sacrifice" DLC, the game's emphasis on ensuring that as many players as possible make it to the end goes totally out the window.

Why? Because surviving the campaign requires one of the four-player squad to lay their life down in order to protect the others. Yup.

One member of the team must willingly stay behind and restart a generator which will help raise a bridge and cut the zombies off from the other players, in turn ending the game.

Canonically the character to sacrifice themselves is Bill, though any player is free to carry out the deed, as much as it flies in the face of the game's emphasis on individual survival at all costs. It's a selfless act for the greater good, but who among us really wants to do it?
