10 DESPISED Video Games You Should Play Now
5. Dragon Age 2
What was once intended as another extended expansion pack for Dragon Age Origins instead, via EA being awful, became one of the most infamous entries in the BioWare library.
Dragon Age 2 is one of those games you either adore or despise, there is no in-between. The biggest problem folks had with it upon release was the more simplistic approach to the gameplay and world. Whereas the first game had an entire nation to play around with, 2 sticks you in the city of Kirkwall across its entire decade-spanning storyline.
Understandably, fans were pissed, some so badly that they began actively, violently harassing the writing staff because of course they did. However, in retrospect, the lacking features caused fans to miss out on one of the most interesting stories in gaming history.
Dragon Age 2 is a genuine tragedy, where all the plot points lead up to the tragic conclusion of the narrative. Dragon Age 2 put you in command of Hawke, one of the most painfully human protagonists in a BioWare game. Every story decision that seems like a plot hole or a missed opportunity, is revealed by the end to be part of the grander tragedy that is Hawke's life. The story alone is worth giving this gem another shot.
