10 Emotional Video Games That Won't Let You Go
3. Thomas Was Alone
Thomas Was Alone is a bit of a departure from the rest of this list. While most of the other titles of on this list go through emotional highs and lows, TWA is a game about hope and having a sense of belonging.
The title of this game perfectly describes how it opens. Thomas is alone, there is nobody around, and he begins his adventure in isolation. As he starts to meet friends along the way, things become much easier for him. He realizes he can do things that he could never dream of doing before.
The ensuing ride quickly brings swelling moments of happiness as it touches on the importance of friendship and the genuine connection that we all need.
This is an indie game in every sense of the word, its graphics wont blow anyone away, as all the characters are merely geometric shapes. However, the heart and joy found within Thomas Was Alone is nearly unrivaled. This title is another shining example of why you should never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, judge a game by its art and graphics.
