10 Essential Gaming Sequels We Want Announced In 2013

3. Shenmue II

dgj If there's one game I remember fondly from my childhood, it would have to be Shenmue II. 11 years have passed since its release, but if Diablo and Duke Nukem gamers had their wishes granted (albeit shattered shortly afterwards), then I won't give up hope. Sega took in the criticism they received for Shenmue I and put what they'd learnt into practice to release an amazing game. Although Sega had originally planned to release a sequel, budget issues and issues between Yu Suzuki and the Sega staff lead to it being buried. Although the story of Shenmue was finished before the second release, the final chapters were held back for a third instalment of the game. There were even plans for the first two games to be complied and re-released with the entire story during 2005, however this also turned out to be more false hope. During the Game Developer's Conference in 2011, Suzuki hinted that the game could happen if a budget could be found, he then later stated in January 2012 that he may be able to secure the rights from Sega. Thousands of fans, myself included, want to know how Ryo's story ends. Things have been quiet since, though, but a guy can have hope right? Right?
