4. Days Gone

More than just another zombie game, Days Gone is slowly shaping up to be a rather unique entry in the admittedly overstuffed sub-genre. Dropping players into a post-apocalyptic landscape ravaged by endless hordes of the undead (which are more a World War Z-inspired force of nature than the terrifying shamblers popularised by George A. Romero), the story of the biker gang at the heart of the title is more important to the devs than zombie head-popping action.

While it's promising that the devs are going all in on exploring the dynamics of how this band of outlaws navigate the threats of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, lets hope the story doesn't overshadow gameplay like in The Order: 1886, but actually compliments excellent open-world gameplay a la Horizon: Zero Dawn.

There's a chance that Days Gone could be completely overshadowed by some of the bigger PS4 games coming out this year, but it's also the exclusive that has the potential to surprise players the most, and could end up being the biggest sleeper hit of the year.
