Like Dragon Age: Inquisition before it, the latest Mass Effect has a real quantity over quality problem when it comes to the bulk of its content. Sure, you might be able to spend a hundred hours exploring its array of huge planets, but what's the point when the majority of that time is spent ticking the boxes of uninspired filler?

Instead of trying to do everything then, what you should be focused on when it comes to side missions are the planet colonization quests and your crew's loyalty missions. Not only are these the most satisfying threads to follow from a gameplay perspective, but they're the few quests that allow you to get to know the ins-and-outs of both this new galaxy and your generally likeable squad.

Of course, if you come across something that takes your fancy then by all means pursue it, but as a general rule you don't want to be getting caught up in any of the other side quests if you still have any outstanding that fall in either of these two categories.
