7. "Live... My Pride And Dreams, I Give Them All To You" - Zack (Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core)

If you know the plot of Final Fantasy VII, you'll understand why the decision to release a prequel to the game was initially met with skepticism. Zack might be a vital character to the game's narrative but come on, it's no surprise how his story ends. Still, Crisis Core managed to be a big success for the PlayStation Portable, offering an interesting look into the world of Final Fantasy VII before it was taken over by villains with mummy issues. Zack's Final Stand is an affectionate name given to the final scene of the game. Approaching Midgar with a weakened Cloud, Zack hides his friend from sight and goes off to face the Shinra troops awaiting him. In the original game, this scene is short but sweet. For Crisis Core, it was expanded, showing a ridiculously huge battle between Zack and an entire legion of Shinra troops before he finally meets his end. In Crisis Core, Zack is also given the chance to talk with Cloud one final time, telling him to survive and be his living legacy. Zack's pivotal role on the events of Final Fantasy VII end there but his story is a big fan favourite, despite his lack of involvement in the main title. The ending of Crisis Core was very much expected but it was hugely bittersweet regardless.
