10 Female Video Game Characters You Totally Fell In Love With
3. Miranda/Liara/Jack/FemShep (Mass Effect)
Part of Mass Effect's core appeal was always that you were the one at the heart of your own space opera, choosing everything from dialogue choices to armour sets and combat load-outs to romantic love interests. In part one many of us defaulted to soldier Ashley as she was the one the majority first saved instead of Kaiden in that awesome moment of split-second decision making. However in ME2 - sans one cameo - she's nowhere to be seen, instead we get an extremely diverse range of characters to pursue instead. What's fantastic here is they're all fully fleshed-out with backstory missions that reverse your expectations or give much-needed light into a particularly dark aspect of their past, meaning the variety between someone like the voluptuous Miranda, innocent-faced Liara or punk-rock rebel Jack allowed for each of us to all have separate, meaningful experiences. We're throwing 'FemShep' in here too, as if you chose to play as a woman throughout you'll know just how impeccably well-delivered Jennifer Hale's lines are as the lead character, making every major decision and dialogue choice hit home in the most epic way possible.
