10 Female Video Game Characters You Totally Fell In Love With
4. Ellie (The Last Of Us)
This is the second and last time we're switching out the sexy type of love for more of the "Oh man she's just awesome" kind. Being brought up in a post-apocalyptic world with only fragments of the past to go from is all Ellie has ever known, but purely because of that she's become pretty desensitised to the effects of what survivalist humans will do to each other in order to get by. Armed with the skills to use firearms from her time spent in military-style encampments, as well as a motormouth that fires off curse words and phrases faster than you can take down the zombie horde surrounding you, Ellie's appeal is a core part of the Last of Us experience. Although we're not going to spoil the very end of the game, there is a fantastic section in the middle where father-figure Joel is mortally wounded, meaning that Ellie has to take up lead duties for a while and save him. Her life experience and 'take-no-sh*t' attitude combine with her willingness to get things done in a way that makes this portion of the narrative very compelling. A particular highlight being when she's taken prisoner by evil character David, as she refuses to show even an ounce of fear - instead breaking his finger before escaping and taking down the fully-grown killer by herself.
