10 Forgotten Gaming Franchises That Must Return At E3 2015
8. Burnout
By all accounts 2014 should've been the year of the car game, with both Driveclub and Ubisoft's The Crew vying for pole position - yet thanks to a shockingly bad launch-state for the former and the latter being yet another "Go here, unlock the map" Ubisoft phone-in, neither did particularly well with critics or car fanatics. Now with Project Cars showing exactly how to follow up on the Gran Turismo/Forza-formula but with the right balance of car-savvy knowledge and entry-level gameplay, the genre could be entering another spike in popularity - perfectly paving the way for the already in-development 'next Criterion project' shown at EA's conference last year. Although the VERY early footage showed everything from bikes to cars and even helicopters (the latter making the 'Burnout' name a little redundant), it's still very possible this is another sequel to an already extremely well-received series. To be honest, although the developer's work on the Need for Speed franchise has been fantastic, they're forever playing within someone else's parameters. Instead, casting aside the licensed cars and getting stuck back into the eyeball-searingly fast experiences that made Burnout what it is would be a godsend.
