10 Forgotten Horror Game Franchises That NEED A Reboot

7. Galerians

In the wake of Resident Evil's success, video game developers the world over were keen to replicate its successful formula, and whilst Galerians used the tried-and-tested template of fixed camera angles, tank controls, resource management and puzzle solving, it also provided a unique twist - there were no guns or melee weapons to be found.

Instead of conventional weapons, protagonist Rion has to use a series of psychic powers to battle the terrifying experiments of the mysterious "G Project". A further twist comes in that Rion's powers also require resource management of their own, with an AP meter needing to be monitored and consumable drugs named PPECs being needed to use them in the first place. This gives the game's combat a far more strategic edge, as players need to pick and choose their battles, or run the risk of being completely defenceless.

These additional elements, coupled with its futuristic, sci-fi plotline, made Galerians really stand-out from the rest of the Resident Evil knock-offs of the time, but unfortunately the series remains obscure to many. A modern-day interpretation could really help elevate the game's novel ideas into something truly remarkable.
