Nintendo sure does have a lot of iconic franchises, and you'd be crazy not to count Metroid as one of their best. This epic IP is a cascade of brilliant sci-fi, and has dazzled players with exploration, tight FPS mechanics and responsive platforming for decades now. Overall, it is a classic, so what animation company wouldn't want to bring it to life?

Science fiction is already a great jumping-off point for anime, as the showrunners can produce mind-blowing action sequences and an array of stylish imagery. However, the biggest selling point to a show like this would be the chance to develop Samus. Seeing her kick butt and getting to know her on a deeper level is precisely why this anime should happen.

There's plenty of scope to pay homage to old Metroid games, and create new characters/challenges, in a very similar vein to Netflix's Castlevania series. Speaking of Castlevania, the show's developer Adi Shankar has even stated that making this show would be a dream for him, so fingers crossed.
