10 Gaming Franchises That Deserve To Be Revived
3. Castlevania
Once upon a time, Konami had some of the best selling and most popular gaming franchises, such as Silent Hill, Metal Gear and Castlevania. But while there have been some rumours suggesting that both Silent Hill and Metal Gear may be returning in some way, either as remakes or reboots, there has been little news about Castlevania.
In fact the most recent development in the Castlevania series has been an animated Netflix show, which starred Trevor Belmont and followed his efforts to hunt down and destroy vampires, including Dracula himself. But as far as the games are concerned, there has not been a new release since Lords of Shadow 2 back in 2014, which suffered from a troubled development and received mostly negative reviews.
But if there is any franchise that merits a revival, it is Castlevania. The long list of Metroidvania inspired games that copied its classic side scrolling platformer gameplay is more than enough evidence of the impact Castlevania has had on the industry and how popular its style of gameplay still is to this day.
So if Konami ever considers making a new game to one of their major franchises, Castlevania should surely be their first choice.
