10 Gaming Franchises That Deserve To Be Revived
2. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell
The stealth action genre is just a perfect fit for an interactive medium like gaming, which is why we have seen the rise of games that focus on that kind of gameplay, like Hitman, Dishonored and Assassin’s Creed. But not many of them are as adored as much as Splinter Cell and the series main protagonist, Sam Fisher.
Over the course of its six main games, the Splinter Cell series is estimated to have sold over 31 million copies. So there is a clear financial incentive for Ubisoft to green light a sequel to what was once considered one of their most successful flagship franchises. Which is why it is so frustrating to fans that Ubisoft have not confirmed a new game in the series.
Whether they are a fan of the franchise or not, every gamer knows that if Ubisoft release a teaser trailer showing the iconic night vision goggles of the series, then it would fulfil one of the most anticipated announcements in all of gaming.
Rumours have been circulating for some time that Ubisoft have big plans for the franchise, but fans have had enough of waiting and want to see them put their plans into action.
