10 Gaming Things You Did Very Differently In 2007

2. We Were Playing Games In *Gasp* Standard Definition

As hard as it might be to imagine, TVs used to be the size of Santa Claus in 2007.

Back in the dark ages HD TVs were pretty expensive, and the general public weren't sure if it was going to be a phase like 3D or VR (too soon?). People were holding off on upgrading until we knew wether to invest in a Blu-ray or a HD-DVD. It wasn't until February 2008 that a victor was decided and, as Tropic Thunder told us, it was all because of porn.

Obviously the Wii never output in HD but on top of that, the early models of the 360 didn't even have a HDMI port. You had to buy something called a 'component' cable, but wasn't that the one that came bundled with the console? No, apparently that's a 'composite', are we sure they aren't the same thing?

And don't even get us started on how much shops were (and still are) trying to fob us off for a HDMI cable for the PS3 by claiming their cables gave you "better picture quality". We may not know the difference between component and... the other one, but even Theresa May knows that HDMI means HDMI.
