10 Gaming Vistas That Blew Us Away

7. The Radio Tower - Tomb Raider

Considering it was using old tech by the time it was released, the rebooted Tomb Raider looked absolutely stunning on the previous gen consoles. Not only had a lot of work gone into modelling Lara, the environments and locations also looked phenomenal; there's a clear attention to detail throughout. The particular highlight comes early on in the game when Lara has to climb a radio tower to send a distress signal. Naturally, the radio tower is on the highest point of the island of Yamatai, leading to some spectacular views as Lara ascends. The snow-capped mountains and foggy surroundings add to the island's mysterious nature and it's actually somewhat relaxing to see the island from this angle, given the intense action and violence found below. It's a shame that we're never really given the opportunity to experience the beauty of Yamatai more, though when you consider the tone of the game, it's understandable. Still, Tomb Raider was a surprisingly great game and the panoramic radio tower climb was definitely one of the more memorable moments. If Rise Of The Tomb Raider captures a similar sense of mystery and beauty, we're in for a treat.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
