How do you turn a high fantasy game series into a mainstream smash hit? If you're Bethesda, you make everything as beautiful as possible and simply unleash it upon the world. The Elder Scrolls series has always featured imaginative worlds and environments but Skyrim is worlds apart from the rest. In all honesty, picking just one is a near impossible task due to the immense variety of the geography of Skyrim. It's a world that is filled with dense forestry, snowy plains and hulking mountains, all of which look incredible. There's something especially aesthetically pleasing about Solitude, Skyrim's capital city, though. Built on top of a natural stone arch, it can be seen for miles around and it's a dominating sight that demands your attention immediately. Perhaps it's the ocean below and the sky above which make it look so formidable. Either way, it's a massively unique location that captures the imagination; it's unlike anything we've ever seen before and it's just one example of how Skyrim blew us away. Skyrim's world is so rich in beauty that everybody is going to have their own favourite sight; while that may not be Solitude, it's definitely a location that sticks long in the memory.
