You might not recognise the name of Metal Gear Solid 3's most iconic area but you'll most definitely know it. The final encounter of the Snake Eater mission sees Naked Snake going toe-to-toe with his mentor The Boss in one of the most beautiful arenas gaming will ever see. Filled with trees and white flowers, Rokovoj Bereg perfectly complements the dramatic final scenes of Snake Eater. If anything, it actually aids the drama. After all, with her defeat, The Boss would forever be forgotten as a traitor to the United States; this battle proves to be Snake's (and by extension, the player's) final memory of the woman. Suitably, the soundtrack and the environment combines to create something truly memorable. Kojima always has a surprise up his sleeve though and it comes with the death of The Boss. After Snake has to deliver the final killing shot, the field of white lilies suddenly turns as red as the blood that was spilled moments before. It's a stark visual reminder of the consequences of Snake's mission and it only helps Rokovoj Bereg's already breathtaking appearance. Game designers, pay attention; this is how you make a location really mean something.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
