10 Gaming Vistas That Blew Us Away

2. Hyrule Field - Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Picking one single, defining moment from a game as good as the Ocarina Of Time is near impossible; this is a game that constantly surprises and delights, after all. Still, there is one moment which stands above all others for many reasons. The first section of the game sees you introduced to Link and Navi in the Kokiri Forest; a small, claustrophobic area in the middle of a dense forest. There's a few branching paths and some Lost Woods to get, well, lost in, but aside from that, the area is pretty linear. Then you leave the Forest and arrive in Hyrule Field; gaming would never be the same again. The game opens up in dramatic fashion as you realise just how enormous this world is; Hyrule Field seems impossibly big and the cinematic pan around the area indicates that there's going to be a lot to see. The area continues to delight every-time you return to it; who can forget the first time the sun went down (making way for a treacherous night) or the first time you bounded out of Lon Lon Ranch with Epona and began to traverse the Field in style? Best of all, Hyrule Field's spectacular visuals evoke all sorts of adventurous feelings within the player. Future locations, like Death Mountain and Hyrule Castle, can be spotted far off in the distance as a stark reminder of the scale of Link's adventure. Few games can boast of their ability to make a field exciting; the Ocarina Of Time pretty much stands alone in that regard.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
