Even if you were the most positive person on the planet, you likely couldn't find any reason why 102 Dalmatians: Puppies to the Rescue should be good.

The film it's based on was complete dreck. Because this platformer was obviously tailored to very young kids, there was little incentive for the developers to put any effort into it. Since it was made by Crystal Dynamics, (the same guys behind Gex and Legacy of Kain,) you'd expect them to rush Puppies to the Rescue out ASAP, so they can focus on their most recognised franchises.

But to the surprise of everyone, this tie-in actually worked.

Playing as Oddball or Domino (voiced by Malcolm in the Middle's Frankie Muniz), you need to navigate through each level to complete chores, collect bones, defeat henchmen, and solve puzzles to rescue your spotted siblings.

Despite its rudimentary set-up, there's not much to fault. Voice-acting is well-performed, the music is catchy, and the puzzles are diversely creative. Although camera systems were a major problem with 3D platformers at the time, there are no issues here. It may be too easy for older players, but Puppies to the Rescue is an absolute treat, especially for youngsters.
