10 Great Video Game Reboots (That Failed Anyway)
6. Alien Vs. Predator (2010)
When it comes to cursed franchises, Alien Vs. Predator may stand at the very top of the corpse pile. For some reason, the two most brutal and badass aliens in cinema just cannot seem to get along when it comes to their crossovers.
Just like the original 1999 game of the same name Alien Vs. Predator (2010) allowed the player to step into the shoes of the bad guys for once, something more video games should aim to do.
Playing as any of the three races available in the game's excellent multiplayer was a treat. The Alien was a stealthy assassin, relying on speed and surprise to kill its enemies. The Marine was just classic FPS gameplay, spray and pray at whatever moved in the dark that wasn't a face eating Xenomorph and you'll be fine. Finally the Predator was a happy medium between the two, only with a shoulder cannon, and what's not to love about that?
Well, a lot apparently, and a world where shoulder-mounted cannons aren't cool isn't a world worth living in.
