10 Great Video Game Reboots (That Failed Anyway)

5. DMC (Devil May Cry)

What's the quickest way to completely alienate your intended audience and basically ruin any chance a game has as a reboot? That's right, change the protagonist's hair.

Yes when Dante's redesign was first unveiled for Capcom's DMC, fans were furious, and the game suffered so much that it still hasn't recovered to this day. After all, when such an iconic character as Dante is redesigned from crazy pizza-loving rogue with a heart of gold, to a whiny emo teen who looks like he just crawled out of a three day stint in a meth den, something has definitely gone wrong.

However, looking past all of the cringe inducing dialogue and awful attempts at shock humour the game is Devil May Cry through and through. The combos are visceral, the action never stops, and the weapons meet that great expectations the fans have come to love. Not only that but behind all of the emo teen complaining it actually has a pretty decent story hidden away too.

If only the protagonist wasn't called Dante maybe it would have stood a chance, and maybe we would be neck deep in DMC sequels by now.
