10 Great Video Game Reboots (That Failed Anyway)
7. Prince Of Persia (2008)
Prince of Persia (2008) is one of those games that looked beautiful, played decently enough, and gave the player so much freedom of choice that it could have easily been one of the best games of that year.
Of course that never happened and while the game wasn't an initial failure, it did unfortunately seal the franchise's fate. Coupling this with Jake Gyllenhaal's ill-attempted movie just a few years later, and it meant that Prince of Persia would remain dead for a long time.
Most of the problems players had stemmed from just how easy it all was. The original trilogy was lauded for its difficulty and and high-stakes action, but now not only could the Prince not fail, he couldn't even die.
However, if the player steps back for a second and instead chooses to experience the game as a journey, taking their time with the puzzles or the exploration, then the strengths become obvious.
Where it lacks in the difficulty it makes up for in the adventure, and if given the choice between *another* Assassin's Creed or one more go at such a classic franchise? Well Ubisoft, you know what you should do.
