10 Great Video Games Everybody Just Stopped Playing

8. Halo Infinite

While Halo Infinite's single-player campaign wasn't a winner for all fans, the multiplayer suite launched to wide acclaim, and more to the point, Microsoft's decision to launch it as free-to-play should've ensured an incredibly healthy player-base in perpetuity.

And though Infinite peaked with an impressive 272,586 concurrent Steam players shortly after launch in November 2021, 343 Industries simply couldn't keep hold of them, and barely six months after launch, it had shed 98% of its peak player-base.

Even accepting that Halo Infinite is an Xbox title first and foremost, it's likely that the numbers aren't hugely dissimilar on that platform.

As for why this player exodus happened? You can point to the disappointing lack of content since launch, underwhelming progression system, intrusive monetisation, and abundance of server issues.

What should've been a slam dunk for Microsoft has instead indicated that Halo's lustre as a premiere AAA FPS franchise has basically evaporated.
