10 Great Video Games That Didn't Get Good Until Halfway Through
2. L.A. Noire
What's the nicest way to describe L.A. Noire's early story without calling it boring? Dry? Slow? Methodical? Let's go with methodical.
L.A. Noire's methodical early-game story sure is boring. It's bad enough that the gameplay already requires a pretty heavy dose of patience to get through, but the early-going's inability to shape a truly interesting narrative, really makes it hard to invest the time it takes to reach the later missions.
Unlike other games on this list that actually do benefit from their slow openers, L.A. Noire's early filler just hurts the game by making it so much more difficult to get to the good stuff.
But when it does reach that point - which is around the time you join the arson squad - it does indeed become one of the greatest games of the last 10 years.
