1. Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009 - PC)
Like most people, when I heard about Arkham Asylum and
saw the official trailer, I drooled and mumbled to my cat for about thirty minutes. ( I really tried to find video of people talking to cats, but alas, only people who think their cat can talk post videos.) What can I even say about Batman: Arkham Asylum? It's a masterpiece? It's one of the best games ever released on the next generation systems? If I lived in a place where it's legal to marry an inanimate object (Japan), I would propose to Batman: Arkham Asylum, get turned down, and spend the rest of my life Facebook stalking its life, which would undoubtedly be happier than mine. No, that doesn't quiet capture it. I guess it'll have to do, though. Batman: Arkham Asylum, if you don't already know (meaning you should be at home playing now) was the ground breaking action adventure put out by Eidos Interactive that scored near perfect scores from every major critical source that cared to open it. It's no surprise the that it's the best Batman game made. The beautifully rendered and intricately planned out stealth action game included some of the best voice acting and story telling in modern gaming, along with well paced and fulfilling action supported by exploration incentives and character ability advancement elements. Fight scenes in the game felt absolutely bone crunching, and gave brutal attacks the up close attention they deserved while maintaining flow of a continuous melee. Collectibles and riddles had me doubling, tripling, and quadrupling back to get every last percentage point of completion. The only possible complaint I could think of for this game is the repetitive nature of the boss fights. But really? I got over it. If you are still reading this, get up, go outside and scream "help me" until someone brings you a copy of this game.
