10 Greatest Ever Video Game DLC That Didn't Steal Your Money

4. Minerva's Den - BioShock 2

No one ever gives much love to BioShock 2, mainly because it isn't literally one of the greatest games of all time like the two games it's thanklessly sandwiched between. But the middle BioShock child did have plenty of great ideas of its own, throwing the player - as a Big Daddy - in amongst the poor of Rapture in contrast to the original's middle classes, with the villainous ideology this time being collectivism rather than individualism. It also gave us one of the finer pieces of story-focused DLC of all time in Minerva's Den. Minerva's Den brings with it an array of new weapons, plasmids and weapons. Taking place concurrently with the main Bioshock 2 storyline, you control another alpha Big Daddy model attempting to retrieve the blueprints for an object that could cure the ADAM sickness responsible for creating all those pesky splicers. It's an expertly crafted short-story campaign, with new environments, gameplay features, and a plot with a 'classic BioShock' brilliant twist at the end. It also gives some nice context for the main BioShock 2 plot, exploring more of the intriguing Dr. Tenenbaum's character. Unfairly overlooked, and a must for anyone calling themselves a true BioShock fan.
