6. Halo 3

Halo is probably the most recognised gaming franchise of recent times, and its reputation really, is second to none. The story of Halo 3 is every Sci-fi fans dream, and the main character - the Master Chief - in a way reminded me of Han Solo had he been a Clone Trooper. Bungie did well, they created basically the Star Wars of gaming with Halo, and kept it close to earth but pretty foreseeable in some ways, mainly the struggle of Earth and its colonies against other life in the galaxy. But the story is not the reason the game qualifies on this list: it's the multiplayer. Halo 3 was a blast online, and I can't think of many games that were so incredibly fun. Halo 3 didn't make a big thing about winning or being the best, it was about grabbing a few mates, grabbing a few beers, and just going all out. Jumping into a Warthog with two other players and rushing off to the enemy for no apparent reason, getting blasted at from about every angle imaginable? That's what I call entertainment.
