10 Greatest Pokémon From Generations I And II

6. Scyther

Scyther Bug/Flying SCYTHER - Scizor Scyther becomes Scizor via trade when holding the item Metal Coat Scyther isn't the strongest Pokémon on this list but it is definitely one of the most offensive looking with those scythe-like arms. Scyther does have excellent strengths in it's Attack and Speed stats but it's frailties in it's Defence and Special Defence mean this Pokémon isn't always popular battle wise. Scyther is therefore a Pokémon suited to an offensive trainer rather than a tactical trainer - although a tactical trainer could do well with Scyther if he or she utilised the moves Swords Dance and/or Fury Cutter, both of which would leave Scyther vulnerable to at least one attack BUT would mean Scyther became more and more powerful as the battle progressed. Trainers may also choose to boost Scyther's defence using items such as X Defend. Favoured moves for Scyther include False Swipe (an invaluable move for capturing wild Pokémon), Wing Attack and Slash. Useful Technical Machines for Scyther include TM15 which is Hyper Beam and TM47, which is Steel Wing (Steel Wing is 50% stronger for Scyther because it receives the STAB power bonus). Scyther is still a very popular Pokémon over 15 years since its original gaming debut - a testament to its coolness.
