10 Gruesome Video Game Moments That Were Genuinely Hard To Watch

The developers of Dead Space 2 clearly had a bit of a thing about eyes. The game's main antagonist, Nolan Stross, uses a screwdriver to gouge out a woman's eye and carries it around with him later in the game, and one of the scenes involved the player having to guide a needle directly into the eye of our trembling protagonist, Isaac Clarke.

Lots of people have problems with things going anywhere near their eyes, so having to watch and play this whole sequence was pure torture for many players, but they couldn't look away as it was vital to get the needle in the right position in order to succeed and proceed with the story.

It was also quite a difficult scene to play as Isaac could start to panic and move his eye around, so you had to be careful to keep his heart rate down and help him stay as calm as possible. If you failed, the resulting death scene was horrific, showing a huge gush of blood pouring out of Isaac's face as the machine lodges itself in his ocular cavity.
