Despite the sweet sounding name, the Bulbmin are a pretty big deal. While they don't posses any immense speed or attack capabilities, they make up for this in one crucial way: they're invulnerable to the vast majority of potential hazards, remaining unharmed by water, fire, poison and electricity.

So why don't you use these bad boys all the time? Well, it's because they technically aren't Pikmin in the conventional sense. Bulbmin are parasitic Pikmin that have taken over the body of a Bulborb, meaning they're a little... feral, until you take out the legit Bulborbs with them.

Because they're a little less tame, these creatures can't leave the area you find them in - which is fair, since by all means that's their home, and it's not like they know you all that well. But since they're so useful, it's a pain you can't carry them around like the rest of your little roster of wonderful little beings.
