10 Hardest Bosses Of The Decade (So Far)
8. Glohm Pipegunk - Mario & Luigi: Brothership
Don't let Mario & Luigi: Brothership's cartoony aesthetic fool ya. The cel-shaded RPG is filled with all sorts of tyrannical enemies. And that goes double for the secret boss, Glohm Pipeglunk.
This guy is a jazzed up version of an earlier enemy called Pipeglunk, who keeps swapping from fire to ice attacks. The trick is to switch the arena to a cold region when he's hot and vice versa, stunning him. Trying to fight him conventionally is a losing battle, since he'll keep restoring his HP. It's confusing at first but not too bad when you get the hang of it.
Sadly, the Glohm version is a different story altogether. If this superboss strikes Mario or Luigi, he can corrupt them with Glohm. This disables the moustachioed siblings from performing team combos, which are essential in defeating this gooey baddie. You can use a berry to return to normal, but this wastes a turn, allowing Pipeglunk to regenerate or unleash an assault on the plumbers.
Even if you execute every move perfectly, Glohm Pipeglunk takes a long time to defeat, due to his gargantuan health bar, excessive healing, and his disabling moves.
Luckily, this gloopy brute only appears in a side-quest. If he popped up in the main campaign, he would stop a lot of players' progress dead.
