Breath of the Wild's big bad, Calamity Ganon, posed a monumental challenge. But if Link had an army of potions and meals at his disposal while duking it out with his arch-nemesis, he could keep replenishing his hearts throughout.

Unfortunately, that strategy doesn't work in Tears of the Kingdom when Link confronts Ganon's human incarnation, Ganondorf. The self-proclaimed Demon King's sword and lair is surrounded by Gloom, which drains Link's hearts on contact.

What's worse is the Gloom caps Link's health, so he can't heal conventionally. The Master Swordsman can recover by using certain items, but they're not easy to find and he'll have used most of them to reach Ganondorf's domain. Eliminating the power-hungry warlock without antiGloom items is unlikely, regardless if you have tons of hearts and fully upgraded your armaments.

Even if you're armed to the teeth, nobody is ready for this battle. Ganondorf's health bar is over twice as long as any other boss, literally trailing off the screen.

Not only that, he can perform a Flurry Rush, allowing him to dodge Link's attacks and counter while the mute hero is in a position when he can't defend himself.

Just to be extra annoying, Ganondorf can strike Link with such force, it'll shatter several hearts, making it impossible to recover them until the next phase of battle.
