10 Hardest Legend Of Zelda Dungeons

9. Great Palace (Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link)

Legend Of Zelda Link
Nintendo

There's nothing great about this palace, the final stage in what is arguably the most unrelenting entry in the series, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

The side-scrolling black sheep of the family pitted players against some of the most sadistic levels in Nintendo history, and Great Palace is the absolute worst.

Not only is this punishing gauntlet run the longest and most confusing dungeon in the Zelda II, players had to contend with limited magic, no save points and the possibility of returning to the beginning of the freaking game if they ran out of lives.

Fans who made it as far as the Thunderbird had the misfortune of doing battle with one of the toughest creatures in the Zelda universe, and if that wasn't enough, the damn thing wasn't even the final boss. That role went to Dark Link, whose very existence drove Game Genie sales through the roof.
