10 Hardest Moral Choices In Recent Video Games
6. To Feed Or Not To Feed - Vampyr
Don'tnod's Vampyr is a game full of moral choices, usually made at the end of each of the game's chapters. These choices determined whether or not the plague continues to spread through London. However, arguably it's biggest moral choice is pervasive throughout the game - do you give into your vampiric urges and feed on the blood of the living? Or do you hold onto your humanity and resist?
You can subsist on rats, which is enough to keep yourself alive. But the only way to truly gain power is to feed on your fellow humans. Moreover, through your interactions, you can nourish people to make their blood more potent, raising them for the slaughter like livestock.
So maybe you see feeding on the ill as mercy; or on the wicked as justice. But you won't have much to gain without helping them. Of course, there is the greater good to consider as well.
Sacrifice a few to save the many.
As the game grows in difficulty the urge to feed becomes harder and harder to resist. If a boss has killed you ten times already, well... what's one less person in the world?
