The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an open-world game that rewards exploration.

Or rather, it does most of the time, until it suddenly decides to crush you underneath a pile of sentient rocks.

Returning from the original Breath of the Wild, the Stone Talus is a unique type of elemental enemy that hides in various places throughout the map, disguised as plain boulders.

If you're playing the game for the first time, it's easy to ignore the rock formations and walk right past them, triggering the giant to suddenly emerge from the ground and force you into an impromptu boss fight!

The Stone Talus can be a really tough enemy to fight, not only because of its ridiculously high defenses and the ability to hurl boulders at you, but also because it can catch the player unprepared.

To make matters even worse, the Stone Talus in Tears of the Kingdom gets an upgrade from its last-generation counterpart in that it can be accompanied by Bokoblins who build platforms on top of it, turning it into a mobile fortress.

If you mistake a Battle Talus for a cheap Bokoblin hideout, just be warned that this camp can punch you with the strength of a mountain.
