Baldur's Gate 3 is full of potentially deadly surprises and just plain deadly ones.

Like in many fantasy settings, you have your mimics, doppelgangers, and other creatures pretending to be harmless.

If you're an experienced player, you can easily prepare yourself for these ambushes.

However, even RPG veterans will still be in for a nasty surprise when interacting with a particular lamp.

Throughout all of Baldur's Gate 3, you can find an oil lamp similar to that in Aladdin's famous tale. When you interact with them, the game will actually reference the similarity by having your character sadly mutter that it's "just an ordinary lamp."

This would make you feel that perhaps one of these objects will eventually be magical, and in Act 3, there is indeed a genie lamp stashed inside a hidden chamber in Lorroakan's vault.

When you interact with it, you might expect the same outcome as with regular lamps, but instead rubbing it will spawn a genie!

However, before you can get excited about your three wishes, the trickster will imprison you inside his lamp, and then you will have to fight him with your remaining party to get your character back.

Alternatively, you can summon a creature to take your place inside the lamp, but the best-case scenario is still just to leave this inconspicuous trap alone.
