10 Hated Video Game Moments You're Totally Wrong About

8. "Not In A Million Years" - DmC: Devil May Cry

Final Fantasy X
Ninja Theory

It's not wrong to say that fans had their pitchforks out for 2013's Devil May Cry reboot DmC long before it even released, largely due to the decision to give protagonist Dante an "emo edgelord" makeover.

And while the game itself was generally praised for its slick visuals and fluid combat, one scene during a boss battle was very pointedly intended to make light of the fandom's backlash to Dante 2.0.

At the carnival, Dante ends up with a silver wig momentarily hurled on top of his head, causing him to briefly resemble the O.G. Dante.

As the moment sinks in, Emo Dante stares straight at the player and says, "Not in a million years," before tearing the wig off and cracking on.

Ever since the game's release, fans have complained about this scene, claiming that Capcom was taking the piss out of their own fans in "poor taste," but you know what's in poor taste? Sending a developer death threats because you didn't like a character redesign.

It was clearly just a light-hearted jab at the whole controversy rather than a mean-spirited flipping of the bird, and yet the overblown fan response is just further proof that gamers take games way more seriously than the people actually making them.

DmC is a silly character action game about a dude fighting demons - it's not that big a deal.
